Songs of Mourning: A Benefit Recital for the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation
Performed by violinist Willa Brasch and joined by other students at the Vanderbilt Blair School of Music, this recital program will include chamber music surrounding the themes of nostalgia and mourning as we reflect on the issue of gun violence in schools. The program includes William Grant Still's Summerland, Brahms Violin Sonata no. 1, and Barber's Adagio for Strings.
This is a pay-as-you-wish fundraiser with no tickets required, but with a recommended donation of $10. All funds raised will go towards the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation, which works to educate and empower communities to prevent gun violence in schools and the country at large.
Violinist Willa Brasch is a sophomore at the Blair School of Music as part of the Community Scholars program, working to promote equity and service through classical music. Other performers include pianist Natalie Su, violinist Iris Shepherd, violist Dougie Howard, and cellist Eric Wei.
