Beloveds,
I am overjoyed to announce our new Director of Music Ministry- Matt Smyth! Here is a brief bio on him:
Matt Smyth currently serves as Director of Choral Programs at Montgomery Bell Academy, where he also works as Associate Dean and Head Rock Climbing Coach. He is husband to Ellen Smyth and father to Sawyer, age six, and Hank, age three, and Matt and his family are extremely excited to join the FUUN community. He has worked with choirs for over twenty years, from children to adults. He's proud of the choral program he runs at Montgomery Bell Academy, which includes seven choirs and plays a major role in the school community. He's thrilled to be joining First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville as the new Director of Music Ministry and is really looking forward to getting started and making music with this community. He invites anyone interested, whether or not they've sung before, to come to the first rehearsal on Thursday, September 17th.
Matt's hiring was a result of a tremendous interview process in which he impressed us with his singing talent, leadership and teaching abilities, and directing acumen. An added bonus is his deep history with Unitarian Universalism having been a member of FUUN a decade ago where he sang in our choir and served in a multitude of ways.
Great thanks is extended to our Personnel Chair, Mary Shelton, the senior staff at FUUN, and the choir- who all had valuable input along the way making this a decision we can all feel good about.

Matt will be at church this upcoming Sunday and I hope you will seek him out and personally welcome him to his new role and his family to the FUUN community.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
