Happy Fall to one and all!? The weather may be in the 90s, but we've started our fall traditions with Water Communion and children returning to their age-leveled sessions together. We have a bursting roster of 60 kids in our program from the Nursery to 18 years old! It does take a village to run the program - if you have even an hour a month to be a greeter at the faith formation table in the Social Hall, or a floater at Morgan House (responsible for answering the door and going to be a second adult body when another adult has to step out, which only happens rarely!) or someone who gets to hold tiny babies in the Nursery, we would love to hear from you!
Speaking of service to the congregation, I am aware that many of our children have requirements for service hours for school, scouts, International Baccalaureate programs, National Honor Society, Key Clubs, other clubs, etc. Or maybe they just love to help! Or maybe it’s grandkids in town for the weekend who like to do fun things with grandparents! FUUN would love to work with them to help them meet their goals, & include them in experiences. Opportunities coming up that could be done by Middle or High School students OR Younger kids with their own helping adult:
Sept 27 Climate Concert is seeking general helpers - see congregant Julie Grower for more info.
Oct 25 FUUN Auction is seeking Runners (running winning bidder info to the prize room) and Packers (packing newly won goods to be taken home) see congregant Barb Snook for more info.
Please remember to discuss which two vetted adults from the congregation will be present in all aspects at these opportunities. If there is only one (or none), the child’s adult must be present, even if they are old enough to help without an adult along.
Thank you to all of the wonderful donations to the program! We've just done a clean-up and organization day at Morgan House, and would appreciate all donations to the program coming to one place, so that we know it's for us and we know where to find it! Please place in the labeled cupboard on the topmost floor in the hallway at Morgan. Thanks so much!
Finally, you may have noticed that we are living into our values again - this time with ‘healthy reproduction is for everyone’ baskets of pads, tampons, and contraceptives in each restroom on campus. Anticipating your questions:
Yes, it is intentional to have all of these items in the men’s restrooms as well, so that our Trans folx can have equal access to needed goods in the right restroom for them. And yes, it is intentional to have them in the Morgan House, where some of our 5th graders may need the menstrual products, and for our groups that use the house when the kids aren’t there, they may need all of the supplies. If you have a child who has not yet been through OWL, this is your heads up that you may get questions about these new baskets. Not sure how to answer them? Contact me for age-appropriate conversational answers! Also, a shoutout to Planned Parenthood, which donated contraceptives for this project!
With faith and love for you and our community,
Rev. Jennifer
