Our Share the Plate Partner for October 2025 is Room in the Inn: Room In The Inn's mission is to provide programs that emphasize human development and recovery through education, self-help, and work, all centered in community and long-term support for those experiencing homelessness. Through a combination of year-round campus services and community-based congregations, they aim to address the multifaceted needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them to achieve greater stability and independence.
First UU Nashville feeds and shelters eight homeless men two Fridays per month October-March in our Morgan House facility. Volunteers are needed for a number of well-defined roles, including hosting, preparing meals, laundry, setup, foot care, and more. This is an effort that some shy away from, but which nearly all of us who participate find rewarding and enlightening. If you have not volunteered before, you will be placed with others who are experienced.
