Becky Bowman, Pat Lynch, and Trigg attended a Volunteer Appreciation night for their work with the Refugee families from Afghanistan. Congratulations to Becky Bowman, who won an award! Becky started a sewing class for the women from Afghanistan since most do not want to work outside of the home. She helped them get machines (free or greatly discounted) and taught them how to use them.

Becky Bowman, Pat Lynch, Linda D’Errico, Trigg and David Orth have been busy with ongoing work with Afghan families. Chris Wood has been a huge help with transporting furniture and Jason Plummer has helped a family with technology and other issues. The first families arrived in the fall of 2021; the third family arrived in late November, so we started over with them. They needed everything for their apartment, doctor’s appointments, technology, finding a job, etc. This family did not have the 6 months of benefits that the first two had.

Linda and Pat have also been doing some driving for women from the Ukraine. There was recently an opportunity to take them to the Frist Art Museum. These families are spread throughout the city, so they do not get much opportunity to see one another.

If you would like to volunteer to be a mentor for an immigrant family, or help with driving, please contact Chris Alford at Office: 615-788-4814 Email. You will need to go through background screening.

We would like to have a more robust Immigration team starting in the 2023-2024 church year. If you are interested in studying the issues in Nashville and setting goals and working toward them, please contact Pat Lynch (contact information is in Breeze).
