FUUN Weekly Programming for Children and Youth

Director of Lifespan Religious Education

May 1, 2022

Dear All:

Here are some dates to mark on your calendar:

·       May 8 will be last day of Zoom classes for preK through 8th grade.

·       May 15 will be the last meeting of the Youth Group.

·       May 22 will be a Community Conversation about the current and future state of programming for children and youth, including RE classes, OWL, and more. This will take place in the sanctuary immediately following the worship service, and we hope to provide an opportunity for folx to Zoom in.

·       May 29 will have no programming for children or youth, providing a break for volunteers during the Memorial Day weekend.

·       June 5 will be the start of the summer program, which will include the Learning Table during the service, followed by 30 minutes of Children’s Fellowship in Morgan House or on the playground, depending on the weather. We hope that this will give parents and guardians the opportunity to reconnect with each other in the social hall for a little while after the service.

As always, everything depends on volunteers. We will let you know as soon as we do if we cannot support programming on a given Sunday.

Meanwhile, and as always, please let us know if you have questions.

Blessings,

Marguerite Mills                                                Caleb Hampton

The norm will be meeting in person in the Youth Room or outside, weather permitting, observing the church COVID policy (see below). Exceptions may occur, which will be specified in the This Sunday/Next Sunday sections above, and we may on occasion meet in another space or on Zoom:

The Learning Table (most Sundays)

The Learning Table is available in the back of the sanctuary during the worship service. This is an opportunity for children to learn how to be in the service. Older children and youth are more than welcome to help, Adults will be present to talk about what’s happening in the service and sing hymns together. Limited activities that are related to Unitarian Universalism and that day’s worship service will be available to supplement the experience. This will be available most Sundays—depending on the availability of volunteers, and not on Sundays that are multigenerational, such as Flower Communion and Water Communion.

Volunteer Roles

We have begun to list the role descriptions for the many volunteers needed to make programming for children and youth happen. Please see the Faith Development Volunteer Roles page for PreK-8th grade roles, which are our single greatest need right now. Descriptions for other roles and other areas will come soon. And don’t limit yourself—if you have a gift to bring to the table, we want to hear about it, and if you don’t know what your gift is (whether with children or youth, or elsewhere), let us help!

COVID-19 Policy, per Congregational vote 23 January 2022
