FUUN Weekly Programming for Children and Youth

Director of Lifespan Religious Education

June 12, 2022

Dear All:

We covenant to affirm and promote the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.

This is our 5th Principle, and it is one we especially lift up and value with our Annual Congregational Meeting after the worship service this Sunday, which will take place in person in the sanctuary and on Zoom. See the website for meeting materials and how to join via Zoom.  You will elect new members of the Board, Safe Congregation Panel, Nominating Committee, and Endowment Trust, and you will approve the 2022-2023 budget.  It’s a big deal, for all of us. Just as you might bring your children with you to the voting booth, bring them to this meeting. The Learning Table will be available to enhance their experience.

We can’t do anything without your help! If you can spend some time with us this summer after worship services, please go to the Children’s Fellowship Volunteer Sign-up: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QsqzLn0ka-ICijvDVsDPNa8cbXzYuPOkY5RKPKssDvY/edit?usp=sharing  and pick some dates. And if you know of someone who might help, please encourage them to sign up, too.

Blessings,

Marguerite Mills                                                Caleb Hampton

Summer Programming

Summer programming will include:

·       The Learning Table during worship services.

·      Children’s Fellowship 30 minutes of supervised play, 11-11:30 a.m., either on the playground or in Morgan House, depending on the weather.

·       Special events and activities for all ages. Watch this email for details.

Please know that all of this is subject to change at any time and depends entirely on the availability of volunteers—see Volunteer Roles for more information.

The Learning Table (most Sundays)

The Learning Table is available in the back of the sanctuary during the worship service. This is an opportunity for children to learn how to be in the service. Older children and youth are more than welcome to help, Adults will be present to talk about what’s happening in the service and sing hymns together. Limited activities that are related to Unitarian Universalism and that day’s worship service will be available to supplement the experience. This will be available most Sundays—depending on the availability of volunteers, and not on Sundays that are multigenerational, such as Flower Communion and Water Communion.

Volunteer Roles

We have begun to list the role descriptions for the many volunteers needed to make programming for children and youth happen. Please see the Faith Development Volunteer Roles page for PreK-8th grade roles, which are our single greatest need right now. Descriptions for other roles and other areas will come soon. And don’t limit yourself—if you have a gift to bring to the table, we want to hear about it, and if you don’t know what your gift is (whether with children or youth, or elsewhere), let us help!
