Presentation

Midyear Congregational Meeting Updates

The meeting was led by Rachel Rogers, the current president of the Board of Directors, who welcomed everyone and outlined the agenda for the midyear congregational meeting. The meeting focused on updates from various committees, including the Ministerial Search Committee, the Treasurer's report, and the Endowment Trust. Steve Jones from the Ministerial Search Committee provided an update on their work, including the number of applicants and the process for selecting a final candidate. Gary McVeety, the Treasurer, presented the financial report, highlighting an increase in cash balance and a decrease in liabilities. Vanessa Hall, Chair of the Endowment Trust, reported an increase in the trust's value and plans for a legacy circle reception in May. The conversation ended with a call for donations to the Endowment Trust to celebrate the church's 75th anniversary.

New Church Governance Structure Discussed

In the meeting, FUUN discussed the new governance structure of the church, which has undergone significant changes. The structure now includes a shared ministry approach, with the congregation at the top and two councils: the Ministry Side and the Governance Side. The Ministry Side includes the Minister and Staff, while the Governance Side is the Board, which creates policies and ensures they align with the mission and vision. The Board has reduced in size and the number of councils has been reduced to centralize work. The Committee on Shared Ministry will ensure accountability across the two groups and consult with the Minister and Board. The conversation ended with a vote to remove the requirement for a Lead Minister Advisory Committee from the bylaws, and a call for recognition of volunteers who have worked in the RE program this year.
