NOAH’s task forces research the issues that are important to our member congregations and
groups and then take action to create change in those issues. One important action is
influencing the Metro Budget.

The Mayor draws up his budget, and the Metro Council can change or add to that. The
Council holds a public hearing on June 3 for any resident to speak about the budget. NOAH members will be speaking about the key changes we want to see. We will also be emailing Metro Council Members and meeting with them about our priorities.

Affordable Housing:
 $30 million to go in the Barnes Affordable Housing Fund, which non-profits leverage to
create affordable housing.

Economic Equity, Jobs & Transportation
 Maintaining Nashville General Hospital, which has a long history of serving the Nashville
community and providing affordable healthcare to underserved populations.
 A Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for teachers and support staff in the schools.
Education
 $6.3 million for social-emotional learning programs in Metro Schools to continue
breaking the school-to-prison pipeline
 $1.5 million for “Community Achieves” programs which bring community resources into
the schools to help students thrive.

Transformational Justice
 Expanding programs that team mental health professionals with police and ambulance
responders, so law enforcement is not trying to solve these issues alone.
